Personalized & Special Plates

Wyoming Department of Transportation

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WyDot) issues personalized and special plates.

Special Plates

The following special plates are processed by WyDot in conjunction with the County Treasurer's Office. Some of the plates require approval by County Treasurer prior to submitting the application to WyDot. In addition, some of the specialty plates require an extra fee to be remitted with the application.

Personalized Plates

Personalized plates display the County designation and my have up to five letters or certain combinations of letters and numbers. Personalized plates cost $30 and are good for the life of the plate series. The current series is scheduled to run through 2025.

Once the Department of Transportation receives the application, it takes approximately four to six weeks for the plate to arrive at the County Treasurer's Office. The plate is always sent to the County designated by the plate prefix, meaning that an 23-XXXXX plate would have to be issued by Sublette County.

Personalized plates that say the same thing may be issued in different counties or on different vehicle types. There may be a 22-HUNT and a 23-HUNT as well as a HUNT for a trailer, truck, car, and motorcycle.
